100% Grade 6A Mulberry Silk
Mulberry Silk Pillowcases
for Hair and Skin
Crafted in 22 momme and 30 momme. Gentle on your hair, kinder to your skin, every night.
Why a Mulberry Silk Pillowcase?
A mulberry silk pillowcase is not just a luxury upgrade. It is one of the most practical changes you can make to your night-time routine. Unlike cotton, which creates friction and draws moisture from your skin and hair, a pure silk pillowcase lets hair glide smoothly across the surface. The result: fewer breakage points, less frizz and less sleep crease on your skin by morning.
At Lunelle Silk, we use 100% Grade 6A mulberry silk, the highest grade available, in two momme weights. Our 22 momme pillowcase is lightweight and breathable, perfect for everyday use. The 30 momme pillowcase is a heavier, more durable weave with a richer feel, and our most popular choice for hair protection.
Both are available in five colours: White, Pink, Dark Grey, Silver and Indigo. Free UK delivery on all orders.

Frequently asked questions
What is a mulberry silk pillowcase?
A mulberry silk pillowcase is made from 100% silk produced by Bombyx mori silkworms fed exclusively on mulberry leaves. This produces a finer, smoother and more uniform fibre than wild silk or synthetic satin. Mulberry silk is the highest quality silk available and is graded by purity, with Grade 6A being the finest. At Lunelle Silk, every pillowcase is made from 100% Grade 6A mulberry silk.
Are silk pillowcases worth it?
Yes, for most people who use them nightly. The core benefit is reduced friction: silk's smooth surface lets hair glide rather than snag, which means less breakage and frizz by morning. Silk also does not absorb moisture the way cotton does, so your skin stays better hydrated overnight. A well-cared-for 22 momme pillowcase typically lasts one to two years of nightly use, making the per-night cost comparable to a quality cotton set.
Are silk pillowcases good for your hair?
Yes. Cotton creates friction against hair overnight, contributing to breakage, split ends and frizz, particularly for fine, curly or chemically treated hair. Silk's smooth charmeuse surface reduces that friction significantly. The result is less physical damage to the hair shaft while you sleep. This is a mechanical benefit rather than a treatment — silk reduces the problem that cotton causes, rather than actively repairing hair.
Are silk pillowcases good for your skin?
Silk pillowcases benefit skin in two practical ways. First, the smooth surface creates less friction than cotton, reducing the compression and dragging that can contribute to sleep lines over time. Second, silk does not absorb moisture or skincare products the way cotton does, so the hydration and serums you apply before bed stay on your skin rather than transferring to the fabric. For sensitive, acne-prone or dry skin, silk is a practical addition to your night-time routine.
What is the difference between 22 momme and 30 momme silk?
Momme is the weight of the silk fabric per square metre. A 22 momme pillowcase is lighter and more breathable, ideal for everyday use and warmer sleepers. A 30 momme pillowcase uses more silk per square metre, giving it a denser, more substantial feel and greater durability over time. Both are 100% Grade 6A mulberry silk and deliver the same low-friction surface for hair and skin.
What is Grade 6A mulberry silk?
Silk is graded A to C, with A being the highest quality. Within Grade A there is a further sub-grade from 1A to 6A, where 6A is the finest. It indicates the longest, most uniform and least blemished silk filaments available, producing a smoother, more lustrous fabric with fewer imperfections. All Lunelle pillowcases use Grade 6A mulberry silk and are certified to the OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100, confirming the fabric is free from harmful substances.
How do I know if a silk pillowcase is genuine?
Look for four things: the label should say 100% mulberry silk, not just silk, satin or silky. The fabric should have a charmeuse weave with a shiny face and a slightly matte back. A price far below the real-silk market rate is a strong warning sign that the product is synthetic satin. An OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 certification provides independent confirmation that the textile has been tested and verified.
What size are the pillowcases?
Lunelle pillowcases are made to the standard UK pillowcase size, fitting a standard UK pillow (48cm x 74cm). The same size fits a US standard pillow. All pillowcases come with a hidden zip closure to keep the pillow in place throughout the night.
Are Lunelle silk pillowcases machine washable?
Yes. All Lunelle silk pillowcases are machine washable on a cold, gentle or delicate cycle inside a mesh laundry bag. Use a mild, silk-safe detergent and avoid bleach, fabric softener and high heat. Air dry away from direct sunlight or tumble dry on the lowest heat setting. Washing every two to three days keeps the fabric fresh without over-washing.
How long does a silk pillowcase last?
With proper care, a 22 momme Lunelle pillowcase typically lasts one to two years of nightly use, roughly 100 to 150 gentle machine washes. A 30 momme pillowcase, being heavier, generally outlasts the 22 momme under the same conditions. The main factors that shorten the lifespan are hot washing, harsh detergents, tumble drying on high heat and exposure to direct sunlight when drying.
Do you offer free UK delivery?
Yes. Free standard UK delivery is included on all orders over £49. All orders are backed by a 60-day returns policy, so you can try the pillowcase at home risk-free. If you are not satisfied for any reason, contact the team at info@lunellesilk.com within 60 days of delivery.
